By most accounts, there wasn’t much excitement in the Twitterverse this week. As some of last week’s epic trends and news stories subsided, international sports rose back to the top of the charts, with football (soccer) taking number one, and the Commonwealth Games taking number two, perhaps because of its somewhat disastrous course.
One fresh trend that popped onto the radar this week was an initiative by the Manchester, UK police department, who tweeted an update for every incident addressed and emergency call received within 24 hours last Friday. The experiment generated enough Twitter buzz to push the topic into the number five spot.
