What Is the Web Thankful For? [INFOGRAPHIC]

It’s that time of year again where we let everyone know what we’re thankful for. We all know the usual suspects (friends, family, God, Twitter, etc.), but what else is the web thankful for? What dominates our “grateful for” lists?

To figure that out, Thankfulfor.com has put together a (surprisingly long) report that details what things people say they are grateful for having in their lives. It has also created an overarching infographic with the help of JESS3 for those of you not eager to read a 55-page report.

To gather this data, Thankfulfor collected more than 25,000 random entries from its archives and, with the help of CrowdFlower’s crowdsourcing, was able to categorize the posts in 42 categories.

Some highlights from the report:

  • Unsurprisingly, the plurality of people are thankful for the people in their lives — friends, family, spouses, etc. 45.19% of the posts sampled were about people.
  • Breaking it down further, 23.58% of all sampled posts referred to friends and 20.68% referred to family/children.
  • 19.31% of posts focused on references to “self,” more specifically life experiences, health or inner strength.
  • Just below self was the “Life, Inspiration, God” category, which 19.2% of all posts referenced.

  • In a bit of a surprise, money and jobs are ninth on the list with references in 7.52% of posts.

Below is the infographic, along with an embed of the 55-page report. In the spirit of the report, please feel free to let us know what you’re thankful for this year in the comments.
